The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has reached a settlement with Tron and its founder, Justin Sun. Rainberry Inc., a company affiliated with the Tron network, will pay a $10 million fine and be prohibited from future securities violations. All charges against Justin Sun, Tron Foundation, and BitTorrent Foundation will be dismissed with prejudice. Previously, the SEC had accused them of selling unregistered securities and market manipulation through wash trading. The settlement is still subject to a federal judge's approval. This resolution follows a period where the SEC, under new leadership, dropped many crypto cases, and notably, Sun had made significant investments in a Trump-affiliated token after Trump's re-election.
