50th Anniversary Special: Casio Releases New NFT Collection

Casio Computer Co., Ltd., a renowned Japanese electronics manufacturer, celebrated its 50th anniversary by launching a new non-fungible token (NFT) collection. This venture is powered by Astar zkEVM, a cutting-edge Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution. Casio, established in 1974 and headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, has diversified its product lineup over the decades to include not only calculators and musical instruments but also innovative digital and analog watches.

The brand, famous for its durable and cost-effective watches, has expanded into the luxury market with its Casio Oceanus line, known for its high-quality craftsmanship and sophisticated technology. The launch into the NFT space builds on Casio's historical strength in creating popular shock-resistant watches, a line that has seen over 100 million units shipped since 1983.

In a strategic move to integrate into the Web3 ecosystem, Casio had previously announced partnerships with Polygon Labs and the popular NFT collection, Doodles. This latest collaboration with Astar Network aims to connect more users to blockchain-based entertainment and opportunities.

The much-anticipated NFTs will be available for purchase on May 10, 2024, through the Casio YoPort capsule machine, which offers single or eight NFT options. Buyers on the launch day will have the opportunity to win additional prizes, including a special edition G-SHOCK watch and 10,000 yen worth of Astar tokens.
