USDC Stablecoin Issuer Circle Dumps Tron Network; TRX Steady

Circle, the issuer of the major stablecoin USD Coin (USDC), announced it will cease support for USDC on the Tron blockchain, effective immediately halting the minting of USDC on Tron. This decision is part of a phased transition aimed at upholding USDC's reputation as a trusted, transparent, and safe digital dollar. Circle will facilitate USDC transfers to other blockchains until February 2025, ensuring retail users and non-Circle customers can move their USDC on Tron via exchanges. The move is grounded in Circle's risk management strategy, reflecting a commitment to maintaining the high standards of reliability associated with USDC. While USDC is a leading stablecoin with over $26 billion in circulation, only a small fraction, $300 million, is on Tron, compared to $22 billion on Ethereum. Despite Circle's decision, the Tron network's native tokens, TRX, have remained stable, trading at 13 cents.
