Ripple's CTO, David Schwartz, recently expressed skepticism about the ability of Automated Market Makers (AMMs) on the XRP Ledger to significantly curb XRP price volatility in the short term. Despite AMMs' potential to smooth out price fluctuations through volatility harvesting and increased liquidity, Schwartz sees their impact as limited. He discussed Ripple's strategy to use AMMs for facilitating institutional payments, which might theoretically reduce volatility by optimizing liquidity use. However, he acknowledged the current limitations and the nascent state of DEX trading. Meanwhile, the XRPL faces challenges as a crucial amendment for integrating AMMs encounters opposition due to a discovered bug, threatening its implementation despite prior high support from validators.
