Nearly All FTX Creditors Will Get 118% of Their Funds Back in Cash, Estate Says in New Plan

Bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX has proposed a new reorganization plan, promising a significant repayment to its creditors. According to recent filings, the plan aims to pay 98% of creditors 118% of their claims in cash within 60 days of court approval. This offer also includes non-governmental creditors, who are set to receive 100% of their claims with an additional 9% interest. This plan still requires the approval of the Delaware bankruptcy court.

The estate currently estimates it will have between $14.5 and $16.3 billion in cash ready for distribution by the time the court approves the plan. This amount was accumulated by liquidating assets globally, including a profitable stake in AI startup Anthropic.

In contrast to previous estimates which projected only 90% repayment, the current CEO, John J. Ray III, has improved these figures significantly. The IRS and CFTC have also agreed to resolve their claims, paving the way for a full repayment with interest to most creditors. A court hearing is scheduled for June to further discuss this plan.
