SharpLink Gaming Stakes $170M in ETH on Linea

SharpLink Gaming, a publicly traded Ethereum treasury firm, has staked $170 million worth of ETH on Ethereum layer-2 network Linea as part of a broader plan to deploy up to $200 million to generate higher risk-adjusted yields. The move marks one of the largest institutional staking deployments on a layer-2 network and allows SharpLink to earn native ETH staking rewards alongside re-staking income from Eigen Cloud and incentives from EtherFi and Linea.

The company holds 864,840 ETH—worth nearly $2.7 billion—making it the second-largest publicly traded Ethereum treasury firm, with all holdings staked via custodians. SharpLink executives described the strategy as an industry milestone, combining liquid staking, bridging, and institutional custody while advancing “institutional-grade DeFi.”

Following the announcement, SharpLink’s stock (SBET) rose 1.4% on the day, though it remains down more than 30% since October. The firm plans to pursue similar DeFi yield strategies going forward, reinforcing its view that Ethereum will become the foundation of global financial infrastructure, even as Linea’s total value locked has declined significantly since its token launch.
