Firstly, the deadline for institutional investment managers to file form 13-F is approaching on May 15. This form will reveal investments in newly approved spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) from the first quarter, which could confirm bitcoin's increased institutional acceptance. Secondly, the expected SEC rejection of an ether ETF is anticipated to benefit bitcoin as it positions itself as the leading digital currency, attracting more capital.
MicroStrategy, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, has invested heavily in bitcoin, shaping its financial strategy around the cryptocurrency's performance. Despite a significant operating loss in the first quarter of 2024 due to digital asset impairment charges, the company's legacy software business has received positive customer feedback, influencing potential stock value reevaluation.
The company’s stock has seen an 89% increase year-to-date, with bitcoin's value also rising by 43% since the start of the year, reaching a new high of over $73,000 in March. It is currently trading at around $63,000.
