BTC halving to fuel ‘raging firesale of crypto assets’ 

Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, predicts turbulent times for cryptocurrencies in the latter half of April, driven by the Bitcoin halving and measures from the Federal Reserve and Treasury. He suggests that while the halving is expected to boost Bitcoin prices in the medium term, immediate effects could be negative due to widespread market agreement on the outcome, which often leads to the opposite happening. The anticipated tightening of dollar liquidity around the halving, combined with the Federal Reserve's Quantitative Tightening (QT) and the unutilized Treasury’s General Account (TGA), is expected to depress crypto prices.

Hayes advises caution until after May 1, when he anticipates a shift in Federal policies to inject liquidity into the market, potentially reviving crypto prices. Despite a significant year-to-date increase in Bitcoin’s price and a high Crypto Fear & Greed Index score indicating market greed, Hayes opts for a conservative trading approach to avoid potential losses.
