FCA Oversight for Crypto Services

The UK Treasury is preparing new regulations that will place cryptocurrencies and related services under the supervision of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA starting in 2027. Crypto exchanges and digital wallets will be treated like other financial products, with strict requirements for transparency, compliance, and consumer protection.  

Alongside these measures, the government intends to prohibit political donations made in cryptocurrency. The move reflects growing concerns about accountability and oversight in digital finance, aiming to align the sector with established financial standards while closing potential loopholes in political funding.
