Blockchain Association Fights GENIUS Act Restrictions

The Blockchain Association, joined by 125 crypto organizations, has urged the U.S. Senate to reject proposed changes in the GENIUS Act that would extend stablecoin yield restrictions to application layers and third-party platforms. The coalition warned that such measures would hinder innovation in the digital asset sector and disproportionately benefit traditional banks.  

They argued that stablecoin reward programs function similarly to credit card cashback incentives, providing value to users without posing systemic risks. According to the letter, banning yield-sharing mechanisms would undermine the competitiveness of stablecoins in the financial ecosystem, limiting consumer choice and slowing industry growth.
