Jack Dorsey’s Block to use 10% of Bitcoin profit to buy BTC every month

Jack Dorsey's fintech company, Block, Inc., has announced a significant Bitcoin investment strategy, dedicating 10% of its gross profit from Bitcoin-related products to purchasing Bitcoin each month. In a letter to shareholders dated May 2, Dorsey highlighted Block's pioneering efforts in integrating Bitcoin into its balance sheet with purchases totaling $220 million in late 2020 and early 2021. By the end of March 2024, Block held 8,038 BTC, valued at approximately $573 million, representing a substantial paper gain.

Block's Bitcoin gross profits surged nearly 60% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2024, reaching $80.1 million. This growth is attributed to the rising market price of Bitcoin, which also lifted the company's Bitcoin revenue by 26% to $2.73 billion. Dorsey emphasized Bitcoin's role in providing economic empowerment and outlined Block's ongoing projects, including the recent development of a full Bitcoin mining system and a Bitkey Bitcoin wallet, aiming to address the challenges faced by miners and enhance the financial infrastructure.
