Bitcoin braces for CPI, FOMC as exchanges shed $1.2B of BTC in a day

Bitcoin has been experiencing significant fluctuations as it braces for upcoming U.S. macroeconomic events. The BTC price dropped to $66,000, causing long liquidations worth over $50 million. This drop is part of a recurring pattern seen before Federal Reserve meetings on interest rates, with the latest meeting coinciding with the release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May.

Traders have noticed typical BTC price behavior, with Bitcoin now facing key resistance levels below its all-time highs. Some traders speculate that Bitcoin could dip further towards $60,000 if market dynamics don't change.

Despite the price volatility, appetite for Bitcoin remains strong. On-chain data shows substantial BTC withdrawals from exchanges, particularly from Coinbase. Over the past 24 hours, Coinbase saw a decrease of 14,420 BTC, equivalent to $972 million. In the past 30 days, Coinbase's BTC balance has dropped by over 38,000 BTC, with overall exchange balances at their lowest in seven years.

The net transfer volume from exchanges on June 11 was 17,967 BTC, worth $1.21 billion. These movements indicate that investors are moving their assets off exchanges, possibly in anticipation of future market shifts.
