Coinbase Ex-Contractor Arrested in Hack

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong revealed that a former customer service contractor has been arrested in India in connection with a hacking incident targeting the crypto exchange. The arrest follows an investigation into a scheme where hackers exploited insider access to compromise sensitive customer information.  

Back in May, Coinbase disclosed that attackers had bribed contractors or employees outside the U.S. to gain access to confidential data. The hackers demanded a $20 million ransom, and the company estimated potential remediation costs could reach as high as $400 million. The arrest marks a significant step in addressing the breach and its fallout.
